PSA Studio Visits is a matchmaking project (facilitated by Andrea Sisson, Eliza Lu Doyle, and Kendra Terry) that pairs psychoanalysts with working artists for a single in-person encounter. Each pair meets for an hourlong free-associative conversation in the artist’s studio. Unlike studio visits with critics, curators, or collectors, these conversations implore both participants to mine their unconscious interactions with any materials in the studio, without any expectation of professional courtship or clinical therapeutic intervention.
Each encounter results in a record or document of some kind (an audio recording, a transcript excerpt, a drawing, etc.), which is then added to the PSA Studio Visits archive–a growing collection of documents that will eventually be edited into an anthology.
Open to all artists and psychotherapists (invested in a psychoanalytic framework) based in NYC or the tristate area.
