Andrea Sisson is a interdisciplinary artist making work in video, films, performance, imagery, and object work. She is also uses writing and new media to shape her work. Andrea is a J. WILLIAM FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR GRANT recipient for art and her work has been shown in places like the São Paulo Museum of Image and Sound, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Dallas Contemporary. She’s the co-director/co-creator of the hybrid documentary, I Send You This Place and was named a Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Face of Independent Film, 2013.

Andrea began her career with a BA in Fashion Design, and a CFDA Honorable Mention for her 2009/2010 conceptual portfolio. In 2010, she worked for Icelandic Artist & Designer Sruli Recht, and in 2010 after acclaim for her wearable-instrument, audio-design thesis & installation performance (and exhibition and performance of sculptural wearable, usable, wooden & cloth instruments - at the Contemporary Arts Center) she was awarded a 2010 J. WILLIAM FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR GRANT for art, academia & design. With the fellowship, Andrea co-directed/created the poetic, Iceland-based feature documentary, I Send You This Place, - a hybrid fiction/non-fiction piece in which she wrote and performs in, involving themes around the state of mental illness. The film was made with collaborator Pete Ohs. It garnered a New York Times Review, Andrea was selected for Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film 2013. She is currently finishing her new co-directed & designed feature-film, Everything Beautiful is Far Away (starring Julia Garner & Joseph Cross) - set to premiere in 2016/2017 - in which the artist is heavily involved in the overall creation, physical artistry, production, & output of the project (including installation-involved exhibitions & live-performance re-mixes). She's currently working on a new large-scale multi-media and research installation project, and has been invited to develop two performances for 2017. Andrea is a story-teller, poetic anthropologist in research, and a builder; Andrea is based in Los Angeles, living between New York City.
